Dr Tolson

Born in Ocala, Florida, I was raised and introduced at a young age to athletes in a different aspect…race horses. I grew up in the heart of horse country where my parents and grandparents raised horses and beef cattle. At age 9, I started showing and competing with my Pembroke Welsh Corgi, YooHoo. My focus was agility which is timed obstacle course for dogs. I was the youngest competitor in the sport in Florida, and YooHoo was the first Corgi to title in agility for the state of Florida. In 1997 my family and I moved to Mt. Sterling, and here is where I fell in love with basketball. I’ll never forget when Coach Prewitt met me at McNabb Middle School and said; with your height young lady; you have got to play basketball! And that’s what I did until I graduated high school.

It wasn’t until high school that I became interested in Chiropractic. I had a shoulder injury from basketball, and I was told that I would have to have surgery. My mother was not happy with the response, so we got a second opinion from a chiropractor. He never treated me; only gave me exercises and told me to do so religiously for a month. I did and my shoulder got better! My senior year in high school, I began working for Dr. Linton as a part time employee. After seeing what a difference chiropractic made, I perused working toward my chiropractic degree. I completed my Bachelors in Biology from Morehead State University. I then headed back to Florida to complete my graduate degree in Chiropractic. I attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida. There I graduated magnum cum laude in 2010.

I continued to hold on to my passion of sports and athletes. I returned to Kentucky and became involved with competing in Tough Mudder (injury free), multiple mud runs, 5K’s, and strong man training. An opportunity became available to become certified in sports from a chiropractic stand point. I began additional training that was sports specific in 2015. While working through the program, I began to donate my time and services to the Montgomery County High School wrestling team, and continue to do so. After receiving my certified chiropractic sports physician (CCSP) status; I wanted more training. I wanted to impact and make a difference in not only athletes but non-athletes. My goal is to strive to be the best doctor that I can be for my patients. I then started the next step toward the diplomate training, which is the furthest degree in sports medicine for a chiropractor. In 2018, I completed the Diplomate American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physician (DACBSP) status. I am currently only 1 of 3 chiropractors in the state of Kentucky with this prestigious degree, only female in Kentucky with DACBSP and there are a little over 400 chiropractors in the nation that hold this title.

As you can see chiropractic is a huge part of my life, however, if you were to ask…. What is the most important thing in your life? My answer is simple: God, Family, and Chiropractic. God will always come first! I teach Wednesday night and Sunday classes for the children of Thrive Church in Mt. Sterling, KY. Second, I love spending time with my husband, daughter, and family. You can find us working out together when we can. Third chiropractic, and giving others the chance of a better quality of life. As a former athlete, I wish I had known the advantages of chiropractic sooner. This is why I chose the path of being a sports chiropractic physician. To help improve and enhance athletes and non-athletes’ lives.
